• Denise Ray - Bass Fundamentals for all Orchestra Levels

  • Denise Ray graduated from Stetson University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and earned her Master’s Degree in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University. When she was almost three years old, her parents enrolled her in the Suzuki Violin Program at the University of Kentucky. She started playing string bass when she was nine years old.

    Denise is currently in her twenty-fourth year as an elementary music teacher with Volusia County Schools. She teaches kindergarten through fifth grade and has directed chorus, orff ensemble, chime choir, and orchestra. She has taught violin, viola, cello, string bass, and electric bass in her private studio for 26 years.

    Denise is an active member of the National Association for Music Education, Florida Music Educator’s Association, Florida Alliance for Arts Education, and Florida Elementary Music Educator’s Association. She has performed with the Central Florida Symphony Orchestra, Daytona Solisti Chamber Orchestra, St. Augustine Orchestra, and various local regional orchestras.

    Denise is a proud mom of three grown boys and a shorkie named Bella. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, crocheting crafts for friends, and competing in obstacle course races.
