It is almost impossible to believe that we are already into November and our first concert of the season is less than 2 weeks away! All FYO families will receive all of the necessary concert information from Ms. Cheryl, in an email. PLEASE read this information carefully and go through the expectations with your child ahead of time! If you have additional questions or concerns about your child’s participation in the concert, please contact Ms. Cheryl immediately.
*It is our goal to have 100% student participation at all FYO concerts, when possible.
~As a reminder, the Prelude Players beginning orchestra students will be performing 2 pieces:
~ Pizzicato On Parade
~ Seaside Blues
All students who have attended class during the past 2 weeks have been given their own copy of each of these pieces, and I have allowed time, and pencils, for them to put their names on each page.
*If your child has misplaced the music, please contact Ms. Cheryl and she will email a copy to you.
I strongly believe that our mission as music educators and performers involves not only teaching the important skills and information required to play an instrument, but also to help nurture and encourage our students to become appreciative and receptive audience members. To that end, I have written a “Concert Welcome” that our orchestra will recite at the beginning of their performance. Again, students who attended class this past week have all received a copy of this to begin learning at home and we have practiced reciting it out loud and discussed the meaning of it in class. I am including it below and encourage every family to read it together and to further discuss the message with their children.
Thank you all for your support of music education and the arts, and for offering this gift to your children! I look forward to continuing to work with your children throughout the remainder of the year!
Sincerely,
Ms. Sue Cryan
Concert Welcome
Welcome to our concert… we’re really glad you came.
We will listen carefully… we hope you do the same.
We have a few suggestions… to make this fun for all.
Please turn off your cell phones… so they don’t ring inside the hall.
Save the hoots and hollers… For when you’re at a game,
When you’re at a concert…. It isn’t quite the same.
We hope you’ll stay and listen… until the very end,
We really will appreciate this…our thanks to you we send
