    Join the Pink Army and help promote breast cancer awareness, education and screening by running or walking in the 6th annual Pink Army 5K  Run/Walk and 1 Mile Support Walk on Sunday morning, Oct. 30th, in Palm Coast.

    The Pink Army 5K chip-timed race is hosted by Florida Hospital Flagler in partnership with the City of Palm Coast, the Women’s Initiative of United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties, Chicks With Cans, the Florida Hospital Flagler Foundation, Flagler Schools and Palm Coast & the Flagler Beaches.

    The Pink Army 5K will start at 7:45 a.m. at Florida Hospital Flagler, 60 Memorial Medical Parkway, Palm Coast, and run toward Royal Palms Parkway and back. The 1 Mile non-timed Support Walk will begin at 7:50 a.m., and the Kids Fun Run will begin at 8:45 a.m.

    The Pink Army 5K is part of the Run Flagler PAL Running Series. Awards will be given to overall first-place male and female winners, as well as first-, second- and third-place runners in 17 age groups. In addition, corporate, group, schools and family teams will be recognized for the most enthusiasm and participation, and participants of the Kids Fun Run will receive ribbons. The awards ceremony will follow the 5K race.

    Registration is being extended, at www.palmcoastgov.com/PinkArmy5K. Entry fees and the new registration deadlines are as follows:

    • $25 Online and in-person advance registration – closes 5 p.m. Oct. 21 (in-person registration 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays at the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE)
    • $25 Mail-in advance registration, c/o Pink Army – must be postmarked by Oct. 21
    • $35 In-person registration – available at the Palm Coast Community Center 8 a.m. -5 p.m. Oct. 24-28
    • $35 Day of race – 6:30-7:30 a.m. Oct. 30 at Florida Hospital Flagler
    • $10 Teen Student rate – ages 13-19
    • $5 Elementary Student rate – ages 12 and under
    • Free Kids Fun Run – ages 6 and under, non-timed, $5 fee for race T-shirt (while supplies last)
    • Registration is free for veterans with military ID

    T-shirts will be available while supplies last. Water stations will be available along the route, and refreshments will be served at the awards ceremony. Packet pickup will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 13 and 14 at Palm Coast City Hall, Community Wing, 160 Lake Ave., and on race day at the hospital, beginning at 6:30 a.m.

    All proceeds will go toward assisting qualified patients in our community who are in need, helping to pay for mammograms, breast ultrasounds, stereotactic breast biopsies, education and other specific diagnostic services to aid in the early detection of breast cancer.

    Members of the Flagler Youth Orchestra String Quartet(s) will provide music entertainment and cheer on the race course about mid-way.
