• A resident of Ormond Beach, Kathy retired from the Volusia County School System in June of 2017, after 34 years as the orchestral/string instructor at several schools. She previously taught three years in the New York ublic school system. She’s run summer camps and taught privately in her home.

While teaching, Kathy performed with the Daytona Beach Civic Orchestra, Space Coast Philharmonic, Ormond Beach Symphony and a string quartet of her own that kept her very busy. Kathy was also the Volusia County Schools Orchestra Chairman, and served on the Florida Orchestra Association Board of Directors for 10 years serving District VI. Kathy currently plays with the Solisti Chamber Orchestra of Daytona Beach, and has a home studio for piano, violin, viola, and cello lessons.

“I feel as though you must make learning music fun. If it is not enjoyable, students will lose interest quickly,” she was quoted as saying in the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

In her free time, Kathy is a dog advocate, rescuing two, along with a cat and fish! In addition to teaching music, she enjoys family, friends, the beach, gardening, cooking, quartet playing, and helping animals with no voice.
